Product information "Google Shopping Professional for Shopware 6"
Product data to Google – via the new Merchant API
Google Shopping Professional for Shopware 6 transfers your products and variants to Google Merchant Center and makes the status of this transfer visible in the Shopware administration. With version 5.0.0 for Shopware 6.7 and 3.7.0 for Shopware 6.6, the connection was switched completely to the Google Merchant API. Google sunset the previous Content API on 18 August 2026; it will be shut down completely in early 2027. If you start today, you work on the interface Google will support going forward.
Your advantages with Google Shopping Professional
- On the current interface: The transfer runs via the Google Merchant API, not via the Content API that is being phased out.
- Visible instead of blind: The Merchant Manager shows which products are approved, limited, under review or not approved; Google reports status changes directly to the shop.
- Causes instead of guesswork: For every product that is not transferred, the plugin states the reason, such as a missing Google category or an inactive product.
- Built for large catalogs: The feed is processed in configurable batches and products are transferred in parallel. In our tests, a run with around 70,000 products dropped from an estimated 15 hours to under two.
- Stock and range up to date: After an order is completed, stock levels in Merchant Center are updated; products that can no longer be sold are removed there if you wish.
- Ready for international use: Google Shopping categories are available in numerous languages, and assignment is made per sales channel with target country and language; several Merchant accounts are supported, including sub-accounts of an advanced account.
Features at a glance
Connection via the Merchant API The connection is set up using a Google Cloud project, an OAuth client, a service account and a product data source in Merchant Center; a wizard in the administration guides you through the steps. A readiness check reports exactly what is still missing – for example a data source ID that has not been entered or invalid credentials.
Merchant Manager as the hub Under Catalogues you will find statistics on approved and disapproved products, the list of product issues with search, filters and a jump to the product or to Merchant Center, the queue, the sync results including Google's error message, and the current API quotas. Product status and issues arrive via notifications from Google; in addition, the plugin reconciles all products at an interval you can set between 1 and 24 hours. On each product, a sync history shows the latest transfers.
Sync exclusions with reasons A dedicated overview answers why a product does not reach Google: no domain target, no Google category, product inactive, excluded via product status or cancelled in the queue.
Automatic pause If Google reports a daily limit or an account problem, the plugin pauses synchronization. You lift the pause with "Reset now".
Feed according to your rules Among other things, you decide whether the product name is extended with properties, which category path is output as product type for each product – SEO category, a category of your choice or free text –, whether the lowest price applies for tiered prices and whether products that can no longer be sold are removed from Google.
More than 50 attributes, also per variant Product data can be maintained at product and variant level, including your own Google titles and descriptions as well as custom labels for campaign control. Existing Shopware properties can be mapped to the Google fields instead of entering them again.
Who is Google Shopping Professional for?
- Shops that advertise on Google Shopping and want to maintain their product data from within Shopware
- Existing customers on version 4.x (Shopware 6.7) or 3.6 and earlier (Shopware 6.6) still transferring via the Content API: since September 2026, requests there fail intermittently; after the update, a one-time reconfiguration is required and existing settings are kept
- International setups with several sales channels, target countries and Merchant accounts
- Large catalogs where a feed run has so far failed due to memory limits or taken very long

Google Shopping FAQ
You need a Google Merchant Center account and a Google Cloud project in which the Merchant API is enabled. You also need an OAuth client, a service account with access to the Merchant Center and a product data source whose ID you enter in the plugin. You carry out the setup once; our documentation describes every step with screenshots. Since version 5.0.0, the connection runs via the Merchant API, which replaces the former Content API at Google.
More than 50 attributes are available, from title and description through Google product category, size system, colour and material to condition, age group, shipping data and certification details. You maintain all fields at both product and variant level. For Google, you can store separate titles and descriptions that differ from the texts in the shop. With custom labels, you mark products for your campaign management, for example as seasonal items or bestsellers.
In the domain assignments, you link each sales channel with a merchant account and a data source and specify the target country and language. A shop can thus serve several countries in parallel. The Google product categories are available in several languages; you set which language is used in the basic settings and then update the categories. Google's English taxonomy is stored by default.
The Merchant Manager offers several views for this. The sync exclusions list all products that are not being transferred, each with the specific reason, for example a missing Google category, disabled transfer or a missing domain target. The sync results show for each run which products were successful and which Google rejected, including the Google error message. Issues reported by the Merchant Center also appear under Product issues, with a direct link to the product in Shopware or in the Merchant Center.
Product changes run through a queue that is processed in batches, instead of transferring everything at once. For full runs, the plugin transfers several products in parallel: in our test with around 70,000 products, this reduced a complete run from about 15 hours to under two. The feed command has the option -c/--concurrency for this. If Google reports a daily limit, synchronisation pauses by itself and then continues.
From version 5.0.0, the connection runs via the Merchant API. This requires a one-time new setup: create an OAuth client, register as a developer, enter the data source and run the readiness check. Your existing settings are retained.
