Shopware's Custom Products extension makes products individually configurable – custom text, choice of material, uploaded files, all set directly by the customer in the storefront. This works brilliantly as long as customers place their orders themselves. But as soon as your team needs to create or adjust an order in the Administration, the configuration options come to an end.
With Custom Products for Admin Orders, you bring the configurator to where your team actually processes orders: directly into the order in the Administration.
Where Custom Products reaches its limits
Custom Products is designed for the storefront. The customer puts together their product in the shop, the price updates, and the order goes through. However, many orders don't come in this way at all: B2B inquiries by phone or email, quotes, manual corrections or reorders. Anyone who wanted to add a configurable product to an order in the back office previously had no intended way to do so in the standard setup – and had to make do with custom line items, notes and manually calculated surcharges.
The configurator – now directly in the order
With Custom Products for Admin Orders, your team adds configurable products directly on the order detail page in the Shopware Administration and edits them there. The same templates, options and validation rules that your customers already know from the storefront are used. This keeps your internal process consistent with what customers experience online.
- Configuration directly on the order detail page, without going through the storefront.
- All option types: select, color and image selection, checkbox, number, text, date/time and file uploads.
- Uploads are handled via the familiar Shopware media management. Admin uploads end up in the same upload media folder as uploads from the storefront, so thumbnails, retention and folder structure remain consistent.
- Surcharges, taxes and discounts are determined using Shopware's standard price calculation, so the order total is correct.
- Custom Products that have already been configured can be reopened and adjusted in existing orders.
- Quantity changes are synchronized across the entire configuration.
Who benefits from the plugin
Order entry in the back office (B2B) |
For shops with configurable products whose orders frequently don't originate in the storefront – phone orders, quotes, business customers. Your team creates the order directly in the Administration, including the complete product configuration. |
Service and complaints (B2C) |
For shops with personalized products – engravings, photo gifts, print-on-demand, custom-made items – and a service contact. For replacements, complaints or an identical reorder, your team reopens the existing configuration and adjusts it, without sending the customer through the entire configurator or triggering a new payment. |
How it works
- Open the order in the Administration – when creating a new order or for an existing one.
- Under “Add product”, select the “Add custom product” entry.
- Select a product with an assigned Custom Products template.
- Configure the options – selection, color, image, checkbox, number, text, date/time and file uploads.
- Apply the configuration: the product appears as a regular line item, and the order total is recalculated automatically.
Custom Products that have already been added can be reopened and adjusted at any time via “Edit configuration” or viewed via “Show configuration”.
What's been added since the first release
Since the initial release in June, we have followed up twice. Version 1.1.0 now clearly labels Custom Products on the new order page: a notice at the top, with the product name below it. In addition, Custom Products can optionally be added directly to the order without the configuration window opening – handy when the default configuration is sufficient. Products with a deactivated product template are no longer offered for selection at all. Version 1.1.1 fixes an error that could occur when saving or editing a configuration within an order.

Our recommendation
If you already use Custom Products and a noticeable share of your orders originates in the back office, this plugin closes a gap that can otherwise only be bridged with workarounds. Try it out during the trial month on one of your typical orders – you'll quickly know whether the workflow is worthwhile for your team.
